You can easily make a perch or mount on the edge of bid baths, trees, etc. by allowing a length of 1/4" diameter rod or a 20 penny nail to protrude from the flat base surface.  With a long rod, the oversized Cardinal makes a wonderful addition to anyone's front yard.
